As he inadvertently fell asleep in the armed detective agency while lying on the sofa as usual, Dazai dreamed back to a lullaby his mother used to sing to him before she died when he was a child. His mother was a beautiful, gentle yet strong woman, her lullabies were always filled with so much love and affection as well as wisdom imparted to him for his future. Just looking into her eyes, being held in her arms, hearing her gentle soothing voice would cause him to have no doubt of the fact that he is loved, that he was born into this world with expectation and joy. Or like his mother would say, he came to the world in response to her love. His mother was undoubtedly the pure land in his heart, though sad at her passing, he was filled with so much comfort and peace of mind at her memory. As she would say, she was always with him, though she has passed away, she still remains in his heart providing him with endless comfort, strength and peace of mind. Due to the turbulence of time and space, his soul split into many pieces and were born as the main characters family, either as twins, older sibling or even as their parents. Those split souls had blurred memories and sincerely regarded this reincarnation as a new life and those main characters they only vaguely remember now as close family to be protected and cared for.
